Capital is our business unit that began within EFL in 2016. The core idea of Capital is to develop a business model that allows us to co-invest in loans alongside our partners, enabling our partners to grow without the risk. The new business model allows us to bring both technology and capital to partners seeking to grow new markets with a primary focus on applicants who would otherwise be rejected. The team is focused on two forms of risk capital 1) wholesale purchase of loans 2) portfolio level guarantees/insurance. Capital has been a small team set with establishing pilot programs in Mexico, Peru, India and Indonesia. Now, we are looking to hire a core team to bring the concept from pilot to a full-scale business.

About the Position:

We’re looking for a smart, driven individual to join the core team as our Director of Risk in either Boston, Mumbai, Lima or Singapore. The individual will be responsible for developing and implementing an ongoing credit risk management strategy, cash flow modeling/calibration and overall market surveillance.

The ideal candidate will have portfolio management experience with fixed income assets across a number of different financial vehicles. Additionally, have experience evaluating different loan portfolios of lenders. As part of the core team set to establish EFL Capital as a business, they’ll need to be entrepreneurial and willing to help the entire team be successful by pitching in on whatever is required (origination, risk, marketing, etc.)


Lead and manage Capital’s risk management strategy.

Define and implement methodologies and tools to achieve risk and profitability goals.

Collaborate with LenddoEFL Risk & Analytics team to build and implement modeling and Analytics needs.

Take ownership for all Risk associated data flows

Monitor model and portfolio performance

Analyze and interpret the different risks associated with a loan originator to determine opportunities for Capital to underwrite and purchase loans during due-diligence

Set credit policy for underwriting loans

Manage the cash flow of Capital for both wholesale purchase of loans and providing credit enhancement

Collaborate with the Executive team to define and monitor the desire risk appetite

Help the entire Capital team be successful by pitching in with whatever is required


5 - 10+ years of relevant industry experience across financial institutions, banks, hedge funds, or asset managers, focused on warehouses, loan sales, securitizations, and/or other financing strategies. Alternatively (or additionally), experience at a consumer or marketplace lending company in a risk management role

Data driven decision making skills

Wide understanding cash flow management

Experience building and managing a team

Ability to think creatively and critically and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and often ambiguous work environment

Team player that understands they are joining the core team set to establish this new and existing business and is willing to move cross-functionally depending on what the business needs are

Ability to travel up to 20% of the time for the first year as the business is established (depending on home location)
